I have always liked deliverance ministry, but part of that is inner cleansing of the inner man, as we are involved in deliverance we need to be careful of things attaching themselves to us. I have found that when I pray in a house and cleanse a house by the power of God I always pray for myself when I come from that house. When I pray for someone who is demon possessed and cast out that demon, I also pray for cleansing afterwards. Then there is times when our eyes are opened to things that we should not watch those images get into our thinking and are hard to get rid of. It is here we need to go through the practice of cleansing.
Jesus spoke cleansing words over the leper in Mark 1:40-44 this words brought cleansing, it is this that I thought of we need to speak cleansing words over ourselves. I think this is part of the practice of cleansing. In Psalm 119:9 it speaks of how a young man should cleanse his way by being obedient to the word fo the Lord, it is here we need to grasp the fact that the word of the Lord cleansing us when we are obedient to it. I find that when my thought pattern is not of God that I focus on the word of the Lord and that cleansing the mind cleanses the wrong thinking. If we pray the word over ourselves, that is over our thinking, over our seeing, over our speech, over our walk, and mainly over our heart that daily practice will keep us clean. Jesus pronounces the disciples clean though His words in John 15:3, its the word that cleanses and it is the word that sets us free. Paul says in Ephesians 5:25-27 that Jesus will wash the church with the word, I have found that I need to pray the word of the Lord over me and into me in order to stay clean before the Lord.
The other thing that brings cleansing is confession, I go through a process of confessing before the Lord, He is the only one that I confess too. 1 John 1:9 tells us that if we confess our faults to Jesus He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness, so there is daily confession of sins, a repentance before the Lord, because I believe that confession and repentance go hand in hand and as we make this before the Lord He will cleanse us.What an amazing thought this is that as I read the word it blesses me but it also reveals my sin and through that I confess and repent and receive the cleansing of the Lord.
The other thing that cleanses us is the blood of Jesus 1 John 1:7 tells us that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. We need to put into force the blood of Jesus there is power in the blood to cleanse us and to bring us into fellowship with each other and the Lord. I hear people pleading the blood, when really we should be applying the blood, because it is the blood of Jesus that washes us whiter than snow. So these are the things that keep us clean the word of the Lord, confession and repentance and of course the blood of Jesus.
